VOOT FAQ

What is VOOT?

VOOT is a hosted analytical solution for YouTube that, for any video, automatically tracks and trends crucial channel and video performance, engagement and search ranking data.

Why is video engagement important to getting views?

With over 72 hours of video uploaded every minute to YouTube it is getting more difficult to gain exposure. However, with over 4 billion video views a day and over a billion unique viewers a month, YouTube’s potential as a marketing vehicle cannot be ignored.

Good titles and tags aren’t enough. Being featured in related videos and search are chiefly determined by a video’s engagement levels and velocity. In order gain top visibility, you’ll need to understand what level of performance and engagement your videos need to compete for views.

YouTube tells us that as much as 80% of a video’s views can come from searches. Video engagement levels factor considerably in determining the rankings your videos can achieve*.

What will VOOT do for me?

VOOT will save you a ton of time and help to put more green in your wallet as you get more views. VOOT is designed to automatically fetch and track the search and engagement data you need to make the decisions necessary to maximize a video’s visibility and performance. A great deal of time (and sanity) is saved thanks to VOOT’s automation and the use of a single intuitive and comprehensive interface. No longer will you need to track hundreds (or thousands) of keywords and video engagement data by hand for all videos you track  in a spreadsheet hell.

How easy is it to get to start tracking my/competitor videos?

Very easy. VOOT will automatically fetch all view, engagement and search ranking information (if you chose to provide keywords) for any video from any YouTube channel you specify. To make it as easy as possible, there are four ways to get started:

1) Channel URLs. Paste in a channel URL and then quickly choose all or some videos to track.

2) Video URLs. Paste in a video URL to quickly choose a specific video to track.

3) Search pages. Paste in a search term and then choose and and all  videos to track that rank on the first page.

4) Spreadsheet hell import. We’ve been there. You’ve already been tracking a bunch of videos, engagement and keyword data for months (or longer) and you don’t want to lose your historical data. No worries.

How often is new YouTube data captured?

Video and channel performance and engagement data is captured daily. Search rankings are captured quickly when you first enter them and then weekly thereafter.

What kind of YouTube data is tracked?

For channels: total video views, subscribers, channel views and channel comments

For videos: the number of views, comments, favorites, likes/dislikes, comment ratio, favorite ratio, like ratio and velocity. Velocity is a new metric we’ll be introducing that we see as a significant factor for achieving superior visibility across YouTube’s discovery methods.

Can I monitor a competitor’s videos?

Absolutely. You’ll also be able to compare your videos rankings and performance/engagement data against competing videos for your keywords. There are no limitations as to what public YouTube videos can be tracked. Use VOOT to track competing videos to gain insights on what it takes to gain their respective levels of visibility.
